July 16, 2005:Kamikaze Girls appears At Comic-Con 2005!
Comic-Con 2005 visitors were fascinated with the kamikaze girls at VIZ Media's booth; many wanted to pose with our Momoko and Ichigo look-alikes.
At the evening sneak preview, the audience enjoyed free popcorn and sodas and remained in their seats until the end of the creditroll, erupting into generous applause. Some people were kind enough to come and say "Thank you!" to us before leaving. Thank YOU!
Kamikaze Girls was welcomed with enthusiasm at Montreal's Fantasia Film Festival! The Festival's main 700-seat theatre at Concordia University was almost packed with audience in wide range of ages.
The Audience in this cross-cultural city gave loudest applause and bursts of laughter throughout screening.
June 23, 2005:Kamikaze Girls makes a splash in New York!
N.Y. premiere was a success on June 23rd at Anthology Film Archives in Manhattan. Almost filling the theatre to capacity, the audience was comprised mostly of college students highly attuned to the trends of J-pop culture.
June 18, 2005:Kamikaze Girls Rocks L.A. Film festival!
The Laemmle Sunset 5 theatre in West Hollywood, where Kamikaze Girls' U.S. Premiere took place on July 18th, was totally packed and laced with laughter and applause throughout the screening.
Despite many cultural references potentially lost in translation, the audience cracked up at all the right moments, reminding us that laughter can often be the shortest distance between cultures.
